Why ETC?

Violence and other social issues that plague the African American community are rooted in a lack of economic opportunities. The Emerging Technology Consortium (ETC) addresses “Income Inequality” and unstable communities by developing comprehensive programs based on investments in America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). This thorough strategy transforms them from purely educational institutions into economic inclusion centers by incorporating research, commercialization, and new company formation into their mission. This transformation shifts these institutions toward employment and job creation centers, enabling African Americans and minority communities to own companies in next-generation industries, including Precision Medicine, Robotics, and Advanced Manufacturing. Increasing Black ownership in these industries and locating these new economies in these communities are the seeds of community transformation. This unique understanding of the link between Research and Development (R&D) and community revitalization is what makes the ETC unique.
